Protecting You, Protecting Our Oceans

At Stream2Sea, we’ve always believed that proof matters more than promises. Our mission is to create products that are safe for you, your family, and the waters we all love. That means putting our formulas through rigorous, independent testing — especially when new chemical safety concerns arise.

Our Track Record of Transparency

When there was a risk for benzene contamination in sunscreens, Stream2Sea immediately tested our formulas to ensure we were benzene-free.

When other companies experienced cross-contamination from petrochemicals in their so-called “mineral sunscreens,” we took the bold step of building our own FDA-compliant manufacturing facility. That way, we could control every ingredient, every batch, and ensure harmful petrochemicals would never find their way into our formulas.

So when concern was raised about PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in sunscreens, we acted with the same urgency and responsibility: we promptly sent our products for independent testing.

The PFAS Challenge

PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” are synthetic compounds that don’t break down in nature. They’ve been linked to health risks and environmental harm, and new state regulations (California, New York, Colorado, and beyond) are banning them from cosmetics and sunscreens.

The problem? With thousands of PFAS compounds, it’s nearly impossible — and prohibitively expensive — to test for each one individually. Instead, leading laboratories use Total Fluorine testing, a reliable screening method to detect potential PFAS contamination.

Independent Results from Bureau Veritas

We submitted three of our customer favorites to Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing and certification:

  • Every Day Active Mineral SunscreenPass
  • Coral Care Mineral SunscreenPass
  • Mineral Sunscreen Balm Pass

All results were well below the 100 mg/kg safety threshold, confirming that our formulas are PFAS-free.

Why This Matters

Safer for You: No hidden contaminants in the formulas you trust for daily protection.
Safer for Our Oceans: No persistent chemicals entering marine ecosystems.
Ahead of Regulations: With multiple U.S. states banning PFAS in personal care products between 2025–2028, Stream2Sea is already compliant.

Our Promise

From benzene to petrochemicals to PFAS, Stream2Sea has always met new challenges with science and integrity. We don’t wait for regulations to force action — we lead with testing, transparency, and trust.

When you choose Stream2Sea, you can feel confident knowing you’re protecting your skin and the planet. 🌊💙
