Usage

Wet hair and skin with fresh water. Massage shampoo and body wash over the entire body and scalp, then rinse well. For maximum benefit, use with Stream2Sea Leave-in Conditioner.

What is Biodegradability?

Reef-safe and ocean-friendly are much more easily understood. But biodegradable is a critical component of any reef-safe product, whether it’s shampoo, sunscreen or body lotion.

Surfactants are not typically captured in wastewater treatment plants. Best-case scenario—they biodegrade quickly so that concentration rates don’t become an issue. Worst-case scenario takes me back to why I originally started this company—seeing a sunscreen slick come off a group of snorkelers, and then watching people on the deck of our live-aboard wash their hair with fragrant suds streaming into the water directly over a pristine coral reef.

Any compound that isn’t readily biodegradable in real-world situations—not just highly aerobic lagoons at a wastewater treatment facility—is likely to accumulate faster. That means it will show up in higher and higher concentrations either in water, potentially killing fish, or in the case of chemicals like oxybenzone, in fish and coral.

Used for a week on a liveaboard... amazing!

This was the only washing product I brought for a week on a diving liveaboard in the Exuma Sound. Since the shower drained straight into the sea I wanted the best for the ocean but I was amazed at the performance on my skin and hair. I have fairly sensitive skin and was worried but my skin and hair were fantastic all week. Liked it so much I'm getting the large pump bottles for our cottage here in Canada. What's bad for coral is bad for freshwater critters as well so I feel a lot better using this than anything else!

scuba diver's ride or die

I've used this shampoo and body wash for almost 5 years. As a scuba diving instructor, I'm often living on boats, and feel great knowing that the products I'm using won't harm the nearby reef ecosystems.

It's a great shampoo and bodywash. I have naturally dry, wavy hair, and this product treats it well. It's "conditioning", but doesn't leave any residue on my scalp or body. I also love the light citrus scent of this product.
