- Neem, of course, is the most important ingredient. We’ve used supercritical extracts of both the leaf and bark in concentrations as strong as we could get without totally overpowering the taste. It’s so concentrated that the toothpaste is brown instead of brilliantly white.
- Peppermint, cloves and licorice also are important in traditional medicine, but using them makes our toothpaste taste great too.
- Ayurvedic herbs like amla, herda, baheda and guggul reflect India’s 5,000-year history of herbal medicine; international researchers are beginning to document that traditional use.
- It’s sweetened with a tiny bit of stevia extract, so nothing artificial there either!
